Boston Somatic Therapy

Body-centered therapy for trauma healing & empowerment

In person: East Boston || Virtually: Connecticut, Maine & Massachusetts

Welcome! Boston Somatic Therapy offers a mind-body approach to therapy that empowers you to reconnect with your body, process emotions, and heal from stressful past events and trauma.

Does this sound like you?

On the surface, you are a go-getter, taking care of everything and everyone. But lately, maybe you have been forgetting things, making mistakes and feeling overall less like yourself. Maybe you feel constantly anxious, tense, on edge, or numb. You might know you have experienced trauma or maybe you’re not sure if what happened to you “counts.” Either way, you’re angry at yourself up for not getting over it more quickly.

You put the needs of others before your own but never feel good enough. You always seem to be waiting for the other shoe to drop, and even when things are going well, something feels off.

You recognize you have been through a lot and want to break old coping patterns, but you can’t figure out how. You’re beginning to realize your typical ways of getting through each day no longer serve you well.

You want more than traditional talk therapy. Maybe it doesn’t seem like your thing or it no longer feels useful.

Somatic therapy can help you rebuild your mind-body connection to promote emotional and physical healing. It integrates traditional talk therapy with physical techniques such as body awareness, breathing exercises, movement, and touch.

I’m so glad you’re here.

I'm Jessica, owner of Boston Somatic Therapy. I am a licensed clinical social worker and somatic therapist.

Whether you are brand new to therapy or feel “all talked out,” somatic therapy can help you to become free from unresolved trauma and anxiety. Through supportive conversation, education, skills and in-session exercises, you can learn to pay attention to your body’s internal signals and cues. We can collaborate to meet your goals and help you feel more satisfied with your life.

I use an integrative approach, working with the mind-body connection and evidence-based interventions. I am not the type of therapist who only listens and nods - I work to build trust to provide gentle, honest feedback that challenges you.

Sessions can be a place to vent, process emotions, learn skills, and create safety in your body to gain the freedom to move forward.

Everyone’s healing journey is different. My hope is that you look forward to our therapy sessions together and find your power to heal within yourself.

  • Individual Talk Therapy

Individual therapy sessions are designed to address your treatment goals and provide symptom relief. Therapy sessions are typically a blend traditional talk therapy with skill building, psychoeducation and somatic work. In-person and online sessions are offered.

  • Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented modality that aims to heal symptoms of stress and trauma that accumulate in our bodies. It's a therapeutic model created by Dr. Peter A. Levine that helps us release patterns of fight, flight or freeze and become more resilient. Offered virtually or in-person.

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a specific type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy designed to treat PTSD over the course of around 12 sessions. CPT teaches you how to evaluate and change the upsetting thoughts you have had since your trauma. By changing your thoughts, you can change how you feel. This is a structured treatment with weekly homework assignments.

  • Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga

Trauma Sensitive Trauma Center Yoga (TCTSY) is based on central components of the hatha style of yoga, where participants engage in a series of physical forms and movements. Elements of standard hatha yoga are modified to maximize experiences of empowerment and to cultivate a more positive relationship to your body. TCTSY can be incorporated with individual therapy or done on its own.

  • Somatic Intensives

Somatic intensives are longer-format sessions designed to help you gain practical skills and knowledge to help you heal from trauma. Somatic therapy incorporates trauma-informed yoga techniques, Somatic Experiencing and other mind-body trauma recovery skills and exercises. Sessions will include real-time practice and integration. Intensives are done as 90-minute or three hour sessions and can be 1-5x per week depending on treatment goals and timeline. Please inquiry for more information.
